Wedding Photography at The Boat House - Aston Marina; Nicola & Andy's Incredible Day
As a wedding photographer, there are certain venues that always seem to deliver a magical atmosphere, and The Boat House at Aston Marina is one of them. Nestled in the heart of Staffordshire with its idyllic waterside setting, it’s a venue that perfectly blends rustic charm with modern elegance. Photographing Nicola and Andy’s wedding here was nothing short of a dream.

The Day Begins: A Stylish Arrival
Andy made a statement entrance that set the tone for the day – arriving in a classic Mini Cooper. The iconic car’s sleek and timeless design paired wonderfully with the charm of the venue, and it made for some fantastic pre-ceremony shots. From the moment he stepped out, you could feel the excitement and anticipation building.
Nicola, on the other hand, was a vision of grace and beauty. Her preparation was filled with those intimate, emotional moments that are a joy to capture: the finishing touches on her makeup, the heartfelt smiles shared with her bridal party, and the quiet pause as she took it all in before stepping into her gown.
The Ceremony: A Romantic Outdoor Setting

Nicola and Andy chose to hold their ceremony outdoors, taking full advantage of the gorgeous natural setting at Aston Marina. With the marina’s tranquil waters and lush greenery as their backdrop, the atmosphere was nothing short of enchanting. The soft rustling of leaves and the gentle breeze added a peaceful charm to the heartfelt exchange of vows.
The setup was breathtaking, with elegant seating arrangements and subtle floral accents that enhanced the natural beauty of the space without overpowering it. As Nicola walked down the aisle, Andy’s beaming smile said it all – a moment of pure love and anticipation that I was thrilled to capture. Each glance and tear during the ceremony spoke volumes about their bond, and photographing these raw emotions was a privilege.
Picture-Perfect Moments

After the ceremony, we made the most of the stunning grounds at Aston Marina. Nicola and Andy were a joy to photograph, their connection radiating in every frame. The Mini Cooper made another appearance, this time as a fun prop for their couple’s portraits. Watching them laugh and enjoy the moment together while leaning against the car was one of those candid moments that remind me why I love what I do.

The Reception: A Celebration of Joy
As the day turned into evening, the reception was filled with laughter, heartfelt speeches, and an infectious energy that had everyone on their feet. The Boat House’s charming interiors and decor added a warm and inviting backdrop for the festivities. Capturing the first dance and the lively celebration that followed was the perfect way to end a truly memorable day.
Reflections on the Day
Nicola and Andy’s wedding at The Boat House, Aston Marina, was everything a photographer could hope for: a stunning venue, a stylish and charismatic couple, and a day filled with love and laughter. The Mini Cooper was a standout feature, adding a unique and personal touch to an already beautiful celebration.
Being part of their special day was an honour, and I feel privileged to have captured these memories that they’ll cherish forever. The Boat House continues to be one of my favourite venues, and this wedding is a testament to why it holds such a special place in my heart.

Kind Words From Nicola & Andy
What an incredible man. His works sells itself, it’s obviously amazingly creative, effortless in-fact. His style of photography is super current and very cool as you can see, but in the end people buy people and you’re going to struggle to find a better one. On your wedding day you want someone who can interact with guests with ease, someone who can be ultra personable and friendly to everyone. Someone who makes all of the guests feel special and who can get the best out of each of them. They need to be very present at times and invisible at others. Ideally you want them there from early morning until the Sambuccas start flowing at the end of the night. Ashley is all that I’ve just described in spades…and then some! He’s a super talent with a super personality to match. We got married on a Friday and he told me we’d have our finished pictures by Wednesday night! He lied! We got them by Tuesday night instead. If anything this bloke under sells himself. Everyone loved him, he knew just the right thing to do and say, he was kind, he was awesome! Best photographer you’re going to find full stop.
